Interlibrary Loans

Interlibrary loan requests (ILL)

(for items NOT available in the Allison, VST, UBC or St. Mark's libraries)

The Allison Library will not necessarily have all the resources you need for your research.  If we do not have the item(s) you need you may be able to borrow them through UBC’s Inter Library Loan system. NOTE: Regular term Regent / Carey students (September - April), staff and faculty of Regent College and Carey Theological College (that have a UBC card) can use the UBC Interlibrary loan service.

What do I do before I submit my request?

You must check that the material you are requesting is NOT available on campus.  This includes the libraries at Regent, St. Mark’s, VST and UBC. Check the following catalogues before submitting an ILL request:

Where do I submit my request?

Requests are submitted online through a link on the Allison Library OR UBC Library website.

How long will my request take to get here?

Some items arrive as quickly as 3-5 days but it usually takes 1 to 2 weeks to fill a request.

How much will it cost?

They are usually free for Regent / Carey students, faculty and staff (with a valid UBC card).

How long can I keep it?

Photocopies and reprints are usually yours to keep.  Other material on loan is due two weeks from the date received by UBC (not from the time you pick it up!).  ILL requests are NON RENEWABLE. You can reorder but subsequent requests for the same material cost a minimum of $30 per request.

How will I be notified?

UBC will notify you by email.

Where do I pick up my request?

Items can be picked up at either the Koerner Library or Woodward Library circulation desks (depending on where you indicate your pick up location on the ILL form).

Where do I return it?

ILL material MUST be returned IN PERSON to the location where you picked them up.  Hand materials directly to a Library staff member. Fines and suspensions apply to overdue material.  Items that are lost by the borrower must be replaced at the borrower’s expense.

Interlibrary loans are NOT renewable. Fines and suspension of borrowing priviledges at UBC apply. Subsequent requests for the same matierial cost a minimum of $30 per request.
